Will you listen to one Scripture song?
I built Vanguard Verse to help Scripture get heard, remembered, and retrieved in real life. The surprise is this: I've started trading my normal car playlists for these songs.
Start here if you want help with the 24 Growth Group verses.
Listen to a Growth Group VerseStart here if you want Scripture songs that could help kids and parents.
Listen as a ParentStart here if you're thinking about recovery, anxiety, shame, temptation, or someone in a hard place.
Listen for a Hard Moment
I did not set out to make background Christian music. I was trying to solve a Scripture memory problem I've watched for years.
At Grace, we ask Growth Group members to memorize 24 specific verses. I believe in that deeply. But most people do not actually get those verses down — not because they don't love Scripture, and not because they're lazy. Most people just need a better way to get the Word into normal life.
So I started setting the verses to music. And the result surprised me. I keep listening to them.
One song may not be your style. That is okay.
The goal of Vanguard Verse is not to make one kind of Scripture song for everyone. The goal is to carry Scripture in music people will actually want to hear again.
A child may need one sound. A parent may need another. A Growth Group member may need another. Someone in recovery at 2:00 a.m. may need another.
So listen to more than one — then ask a better question than "Is this my favorite style?"
Ask: "Could this help the Word stay with someone?"
- What song did you try, and did the style fit the verse?
- Could this help you, your family, or your Growth Group?
- What would make it more useful?
- Who came to mind while you were listening?
If this is worth carrying farther, here's how.
